Background and Discussion:

Category 1: Expansion of an Existing Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) supports local law enforcement

agencies with established CGICs to enhance their operational effectiveness. The Sheriff’s Office is developing an application for the FY 2026 Local LE Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative grant, and certification by the chief executive officer of the applicant government is a required element of the application package.

Expected Impact:

This funding opportunity seeks to address firearm-related crime through the establishment and expansion of

Crime Gun Intelligence Centers (CGICs). This initiative is a partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,

Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to assist local law enforcement in utilizing intelligence and technology, swiftly

identifying crime guns and their sources, and effectively prosecuting perpetrators. If the Sheriff’s Office receives this grant, the award amount could be up to $300,000.00.

Alternative Options:

If Appendix 1 is not signed, the grant application would be incomplete.
