Background and Discussion:
On May 22, 2025, Commissioners Court approved an award to CDW Government LLC for multi-factor authentication solution for Universal Services (US). Universal Services supports the mission of Harris County by developing, implementing, and supporting high quality innovative and cost-effective Information Technology (IT) solutions. It is the responsibility of the US Public Safety Technology Applications team to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of those information systems and the data contained within them. A Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Solution shall increase security of all device access services and address regulatory requirements.
Expected Impact:
Renewal of the MFA implementation requires initial effort that will provide long-term benefits by significantly enhancing security, reducing risks, and improving compliance. By adopting MFA will balance security and user experience while ensuring smooth adoption and minimal disruption to operations.
Alternative Options:
There are no current alternatives in order to meet CJIS compliance.
