Background and Discussion:
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has awarded the 2026 FIFA World Cup to multiple host cities across North America, including the City of Houston. The event is expected to generate significant domestic and international attendance, increasing demands on regional public safety and security operations.
To support coordinated safety and security planning and operations, the City of Houston seeks to enter into an interlocal agreement with Harris County and other public safety partners pursuant to Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code.
