title

Request by Public Health Services for approval to extend one position for the ARPA Food and Nutrition Project to December 31, 2025.

end

Background and Discussion:

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, 800,000 Harris County residents were estimated to be food insecure, with an additional 1.3M residents at risk of food insecurity. The pandemic only exacerbated these challenges, with local food banks seeing significant increases in demand for food. Harris County has been able to provide substantial immediate relief to local organizations, funding $15.8 million in labor services to food banks across the County via an umbrella grant to the Houston Food Bank. The purpose of this item is to extend the ARPA Food and Nutrition Project Coordinator position.

Expected Impact:

Strengthen and assure continuity of project management for the life of vendor projects, including but not limited to evaluation, performance review, and closeout. This position extension is part of a no cost extension and will result in no increase in budget for this fiscal year and no increase in annual cost in future fiscal years.
