Background and Discussion:
Wards are assigned to the Harris County Guardianship program by the probate courts. Some wards enter the program with no Social Security benefits due to the lack of verifiable identity. Once these issues are resolved, any income received on behalf of the ward will be used to reimburse the general fund for amounts utilized for the ward’s care. HCRCA also requests that the HCRCA Guardianship bank account be reimbursed from these authorized funds as required for the 2027 fiscal year.

Expected Impact:
These funds are covered in the existing budget allocation.

Alternative Options:
There are no other viable alternatives to this request since the wards are assigned to Guardianship by the probate courts.
