Background and Discussion:
As FY25 awardees under the HSIP, the West Road and Homestead Road sidewalk projects advance federal safety priorities aimed at reducing pedestrian fatalities and serious injuries, while also supporting Harris County’s goal to provide safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
The West Road project improves pedestrian connectivity along a commercial and school-serving corridor by constructing six-foot sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, and drainage enhancements between Veterans Memorial Drive and I-45.
