Request by the County Library for approval to accept from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission grant funds in the amount of $26,390.70, with no required match, for the FY26 Interlibrary Loan Program.

Background and Discussion:
Interlibrary Loan (IIL) is a system that allows libraries to share resources. ILL staff locate a potential lending library and send a request to borrow the item that citizens seek. The IIL photocopies articles or checks out the material in the name of Harris County Public Library and then mails it to HCPL for citizens to pick up and check out on their library card. The Harris County Public Library participates in the statewide Interlibrary Loan program. To offset the cost of participation, TSLAC provides an annual reimbursement/grant that varies depending on the number of loans we facilitate.
Expected Impact:
This annual grant provides much-needed funds to cover the cost of shipping materials across the state through
our Interlibrary Loan department. It will reduce the amount of General Fund money this program would
otherwise require to be maintained.
Alternative Options:
The library could reject the funds and request additional General Funding.
