Background and Discussion:
This acquisition is the culmination of an interlocal agreement with the City of Houston. The City purchased the Biscayne Apartments at 17030-17050 Imperial Valley Drive in Houston with GLO funding due to multiple repetitive floods and the continued high risk of flooding. Under the ILA, the Flood Control District would provide half of the total funding for the project, what was completed. The agreement with the City stipulates that once the Flood Control District's funding obligation was met, the City would transfer ownership to the Flood Control District to construct and maintain a stormwater detention basin.

Expected Impact:
The construction of a stormwater detention basin on this property will reduce area flood risks during flood events and will significantly mitigate these impacts in the area once completed.
