Background and Discussion:
With the assistance of volunteers, Eagle Scout Rolando Avila will construct a total of fifteen birdhouses designed for local wildlife. Five of these will be specifically tailored to provide shelter to screech owls and other medium-sized bird species; while the remaining ten will serve as habitats for chickadees, titmice and
other small birds. Once completed, all fifteen structures will be delivered to Kleb Woods Nature Preserve and Heritage Farm for installation.

Expected Impact:
Providing birdhouses offers essential shelter for a wide variety of species, giving them a secure environment to nest and seek refuge during harsh weather conditions. This project is vital because, without a stable habitat, local bird populations may be forced to migrate or relocate. Such a displacement would not only disrupt the food chain but would also significantly reduce the popularity of birdwatching at the park, depriving the
community of key recreational and educational resources.
