Background and Discussion:
The Summer Legal Academy (SLA) is a two-week paid readiness program that fuels the minds of ambitious Harris County high school students destined for the world of law and is hosted by the Harris County Attorney's Office. Students learn about applying to law school, what to expect as a law student, the different areas of law, and hear directly from various attorneys and community leaders. The program provides students who are interested in the legal field with pivotal resources and tools for their journey. Students participate in classroom-style lectures with guest speakers, including Harris County attorneys, judges, and law school professors.

Expected Impact:
Precinct 2 will support youth development initiatives by strengthening partnerships, increasing accessibility and participation, and ensuring students can reliably attend all program activities. Enhancing educational experience by enabling visits to key legal institutions in Harris County.
