Background and Discussion:
In December 2022, Harris County Public Health was awarded a $23,952,258 grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) program. These funds have largely been utilized to sustain more than 40 critical positions across HCPH to enhance the County's ability to provide essential public health services. There is a need to transfer these positions from expiring grants to the PHIG grant in order to continue essential services.

Expected Impact:
Funding for these positions expire on 6/23/26 and the grants will not be renewing. These positions support the Office of Epidemiology, Surveillance, and Emerging Diseases by working on data collection and reporting of populations experiencing the disproportionate burden of COVID19.
