end
Background and Discussion:
This U.S. DOJ grant reimburses expenses for a Sheriff's Office Investigator assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The purpose of the ICAC Task Force is to investigate and prosecute people engaged internet crimes against children. On February 22, 2022, Commissioner's Court approved an Interlocal Agreement between Harris County and the City of Houston for the assignment of an investigator to the ICAC Task force. The grant funds awarded by the U. S. Department of Justice supports the HCSO participation in this task force.
Expected Impact:
The grant will allow the Sheriff's Office to continue its participation in the ICAC Task Force, thereby protecting children from internet predators. This renewal grant reimburses overtime, vehicle, training, and equipment cost, for the grant period October 1, 2025 - September 30, 2026.
Alternative Options:
Not accepting this award would forfeit reimbursement for the Sheriff's Office ICAC Investigator's expenses.
