Background and Discussion:
The overall goal of this program is to increase occupant restraint use in all passenger vehicles and trucks by conducting an intense occupant protection enforcement and public information and education effort during the enforcement period. The STEP-CIOT enforcement period is approximately two weeks in late May and early June, focused on state and national outreach efforts to increase seatbelt and child passenger safety seat use.
