Background and Discussion:

On February 12, 2026, Commissioners Court approved an updated 2026 meetings calendar. However, an additional Commissioners Court Special Meeting is needed for Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at 10:00am to canvass the vote for the Texas State Senate District 4 Special Election (which will take place on May 2nd, 2026). Only two Court Members are required to be present in-person to achieve a quorum for this meeting.

The updated calendar, Version 2.3, is reflected below with a request for approval as presented. The 2026 Agenda Deadlines document distributed by the OCA Agenda Team will remain unchanged, as the canvassing item will be the only item on this Agenda.

Expected Impact: The additional meeting will allow Harris County to meet its required obligations in canvassing the vote for a special-called election.

Alternative Options: The additional meeting is statutorily required by the Texas Election Code.
