Background and Discussion:

This request establishes one Communications and Media Specialist position for the Office of the Purchasing Agent as part of a restructuring of the former Director of Communications and Engagement role into two focused functions, one compliance analyst and one communications role. The existing position number will remain with the analyst function, so this request creates the additional position needed for communications, media, outreach, and field engagement duties. The position will serve as a public-facing resource for the department, support vendor and community outreach, develop media and written content, and help strengthen awareness of Purchasing services and initiatives. This request has no budgetary impact.

Expected Impact:

The position will improve public awareness of Purchasing services and initiatives, strengthen vendor and community outreach, and support more consistent, timely, and accessible department communications. The role will also expand field engagement, improve event and media coverage, advance DEEO outreach efforts, and enhance coordination of public-facing messaging, including communication of procurement policy and procedural updates.
