Background and Discussion:
The San Jacinto Regional Flood Planning Group (RFPG) is one of 15 regional flood planning groups established across Texas in 2019 by the Texas Legislature through Senate Bill 8 and overseen by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). The San Jacinto RFPG completed its first Regional Flood Plan as part of the State of Texas' inaugural flood planning cycle and is now advancing work associated with the second cycle of regional flood planning, including plan updates, continued stakeholder coordination, and refinement of flood mitigation strategies within the San Jacinto River Basin.
Dr. Tina Petersen, Executive Director of the Harris County Flood Control District, currently serves as a voting member representing Flood Control Districts on the San Jacinto Regional Flood Planning Group. As the RFPG transitions into the second planning cycle, it is recommended that Patrick "Corbitt" Kerr, PhD, PE, BC.WRE, serve as the alternate member representing Flood Control Districts.
