Request by the Commissioner of Precinct 2 for approval to allocate $500,000 to Harris County Public Health for continued abatement of public health nuisances (PHN) and related services in the unincorporated areas of Precinct 2.

Background and Discussion:
ARPA-funded PHN abatements and related services have been extremely successful in Precinct 2, contributing to a total of 112 abatements. To continue addressing constituent concerns, Precinct 2 is allocating $500,000 to Public Health to sustain PHN efforts in unincorporated areas of the precinct following the depletion of ARPA funds.
With this additional funding, Public Health will continue addressing nuisances at a high volume, consistent with past efforts.
This funding originated from Precinct specific allocated funding ($1M) during the FY2025 budget process.
Expected Impact:
This funding will help address public health, public safety, and quality-of-life issues associated with nuisances across the Precinct.
