Background and Discussion:
Funding is used to pay the salaries of three (3) Recovery Coaches that work for the Houston Recovery Center. The Recovery Coaches provide support to participants in the Responsive Interventions for Change (RIC) Docket. RIC consolidates nearly 5,000 low-level felony cases a year typically distributed across the 29 district courts into one docket solely designed to reduce high recidivism rates and racial and ethnic disparity among low-level offenders through diversion to therapeutic programs and community supervision or pretrial intervention.
Expected Impact:
Renewal of the contract will ensure that RIC participants continue to receive the support provided by the Recovery Coaches.
