Request by the Office of County Administration for approval to accept an amendment to an agreement with the Houston Endowment to extend the grant end date and two associated positions to July 31, 2026, for the Harris County Language Access Program Grant.

Background and Discussion:
In 2024, the County was awarded $515,000 to implement a Language Access Team in the Research and Analysis Division. The Language Access Team was tasked to conduct a needs analysis assessment on the Office of County Administration's services and programs and language services provisions to residents. After identifying challenges and gaps in language access from the County, the Team is tasked with developing strategies to implement recommendations to address these gaps to better serve limited English proficient residents. Without this extension, the Language Access Grant will expire on April 30, 2026. The Houston Endowment has given written approval for a no-cost extension on the grant's timeline to July 31, 2026.
Expected Impact:
The grant funds will enable us to continue work begun under the Language Access Grant until funds are depleted, including conducting community listening sessions, implementing language access recommendations, and supporting the Office of County Administration departme...
