Background and Discussion:
The Hufsmith-Kohrville Road Segment 3A project includes roadway widening and associated railroad crossing improvements. The original agreement with BNSF Railway Company covered design review, inspection, and construction costs based on 2021 rates.
In 2021, at the time of the initial agreement (approved on April 27, 2021), the total project cost approved by BNSF was $935,496. Due to revised rates and inflation adjustments, the current total cost in 2025 has increased to $1,340,097, resulting in an amendment amount difference of $404,601. Since that time, BNSF has updated its cost schedule to reflect current labor, materials, and administrative expenses.
