Background and Discussion:
The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) intends to offer a non-competitive grant program by invitation to local libraries in partnership with an established nonprofit organization to cover a portion of participation costs per child per month (up to $1.30 per child per month towards wholesale books and mailing costs on average). In addition to the direct mail-order book program costs, promotional materials will be provided directly to the library. This grant opportunity is in partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Greater Houston

Expected Impact:
The grant is for community literacy support and to directly support family library and reading initiatives. The goal of this grant program is to enable public libraries and eligible nonprofit organizations to increase community awareness of resources available at the public library and to increase the number of local children ages 0-5 registered for participation in the monthly mail order book program.
