title

Background and Discussion:

The DCA employee has been in his position for 19 years, performs the same work, and has the same credentials as his 9 counterparts throughout the County that are classified as Systems Engineer II. However, the DCA employee's salary is $106,142, compared to his counterparts' average salary of $132,041. The disparity in compensation is greater when compared to OCM's Systems Engineer II salary of $135,283. To make the DCA and OCM employees' salaries equal, the DCA employee's hourly rate needs to be increased from $51.03 to $65.04 per hour.

Addressing this reclassification and disparate compensation is a critical retention request for the most valuable technology position within DCA.

Expected Impact:

Failure to reclassify this position and adjust the employee's salary will likely result in the employee leaving DCA. His departure will mean losing the only DCA resource and subject matter expert that designs, implements and maintains the District Courts' server and network infrastructure.
