Background and Discussion:
The Harris County Downtown Tunnel System connects and provides access to 15 County buildings in Downtown Houston. This project aims to mitigate flooding by installing a large lift station with several sump pumps, powered by an emergency generator on the most vulnerable part of the tunnels, covering the area from the Criminal Justice Center to the Juvenile Justice Center and Civil Court house, to ensure proper flood water removal during extreme weather events.
Expected Impact:
Awarding this project to the selected vendor will permit this project to transition to the construction phase, thus implementing the flood mitigation plan for the Downtown Tunnel System. The large lift station will ensure proper flood water removal during extreme weather events.
