Request by the Office of County Administration for an Executive Session for discussion and reappointment of Juan C. Garcia, a nominee from the Commissioners of Precinct 2 and Precinct 4, as Chair of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority Board of Directors, for a term ending August 31, 2027.

Background and Discussion:
The Authority is a political subdivision of the City, the County and the State of Texas created for the purposes set forth in the Concurrent Order and the Act, including planning, acquiring, establishing, developing, constructing or renovating of one or more sports and community venue projects and related infrastructure. The Authority shall have and exercise all of the rights, powers, privileges, authority and functions given by the general laws of Texas to a political subdivision. Pursuant to Section 335.035 of the Texas Local Government Code, the Chair of the Sports Authority Board of Directors is appointed through concurrent orders by the Mayor and Commissioners Court, and subject to confirmation by the City Council.
