Background and Discussion:
The City of La Porte is proposing to add approximately 5.5 miles of new hike and bike trails to the existing 18- mile hike and bike trail system. These trails would connect 6 city parks along with a trail head located on Fairmont Parkway to allow access to the new trail system. Proposed trails would link parks from Wood Falls Park west to Spenwick Park, as well as Northwest Park south to Fairmont Parkway. Please see the future trails map located on page 4.20 in the attached Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan.
Expected Impact:
These improvements are aligned with the goal of providing increased recreational opportunities for the public, by providing trail, parking drainage, public safety and other improvements to the neighborhood park.
Alternative Options:
The alternative option for this proposal would be to determine other funding or to complete
