Background and Discussion:
Request for new ballistic canine body armor for the Canine Unit. Their current ballistic vests issued to our canines expired in May 2025 and need to be replaced. I am requesting to use RECON K9 as they have a proprietary product which allows the canine to wear their regular harness and then magnetically fasten ballistic panels to the harness when needed. In Texas weather, it is imperative that the canines can stay as cool as possible while also having the ability to add ballistic protection for barricaded situations.
