Background and Discussion:
Commissioners Court accepted the FY24 HIDTA award on August 6, 2024. The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) grant program seeks to enhance and coordinate efforts among local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in order to eliminate or reduce drug trafficking and its harmful consequences in critical regions of the United States. Grant funds will be used to pay for the salary and benefits of an analyst, overtime costs, vehicle rental costs, facility and equipment lease, and any other associated costs for the HIDTA program. The additional funds will be allocated to the Resource Initiative for the purchase of operational supplies and equipment in support of HIDTA activities.

Expected Impact:
There will be no impact to the general fund budget. No required match for this grant. Grant funds will enable the department to continue providing several law enforcement initiatives aimed at reducing the supply and trafficking of illegal drugs.

Alternative Options:
There are no alternative options to accepting this amendment.
