Background and Discussion:
In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, an overwhelming majority of Harris County voters united in support of a transformative $2.5 billion bond measure, launching a more than $5 billion initiative to build a stronger, more resilient Harris County. Since its approval in 2018, the Bond Program has delivered significant, measurable results: reducing flood risks for thousands of homes and businesses, helping relocate families from high-risk flood-prone areas, and maintaining a steadfast commitment to transparency through hundreds of public meetings and community outreach.
This transmittal includes an annual report from the Flood Control District outlining data and progress on the 2018 Bond Program through end of calendar year 2024. This includes key accomplishment, funding partner highlights, project status, financial status, and other considerations.
