Request for approval to accept from Coastal Prairie Conservancy the donation of a pyro-weeder, valued at approximately $1,200, for use in various places in Precinct 4.

Background and Discussion:
The Coastal Prairie Conservancy (formerly the Katy Prairie Conservancy) was formed in 1992 to conserve the coastal prairie. They are a nationally accredited 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Houston, Texas.
Expected Impact:
This equipment would be used to organically treat weeds in small areas in our parks where the use of
herbicides is not allowed or practiced. Examples of these areas: Community Gardens, dog park sidewalks, Kleb
Woods Nature Preserve. It is relatively portable (fits in the bed of a truck), and its cart-like base allows it to be pushed like a push mower to apply the treatment. Our team is familiar with the use of pyro-weeders; a smaller one was purchased for use at Kleb Woods.
