Background and Discussion:
The grant award was accepted in Commissioners Court on October 29, 2024. This grant enables the implementation of a Detention Crisis Unit Co-Responder Team to provide a specialized response to jail inmates experiencing a mental health crisis. This is a collaborative project with The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD.

Expected Impact:
This grant amendment adds a second Mental Health Clinician to provide crisis assessment and intervention, de-escalation, and case management in the Harris County Jail.

Alternative Options:
If the award amendment is not approved, our department will submit a grant adjustment modification request to return the budget to what was originally awarded.
