At 12:20 p.m. on April 21st, 2025, a shootout occurred following reports of a man with a weapon walking down 201 Caroline toward the Harris County Family Law Center in Downtown Houston. During this confrontation, the gunman shot Deputy Sheila Jones, sustaining a nonfatal injury from which she was initially hospitalized, now discharged, and is in continued recovery.
