Background and Discussion:
The purpose of this contract change is to extend the contract duration by 24 days (3 days for inclement weather and 21 days due to utility delays). Mud Gully Channel Conveyance Improvements Package 2 includes clearing and grubbing, excavating and disposing of material, constructing concrete channel lining, and removing and replacing storm sewer system components.
Expected Impact:
This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.
Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
