Request by the County Library for approval to accept from the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation grant funds in the amount of $42,300, with no required match, for the FY 25 George & Barbara Bush Family Place Library - Multiple Branches.

Background and Discussion:
Family Place Libraries (tm) is a proprietary program designed to enhance the parent/child bond and parents' confidence in their parenting skills. The bulk of the program is delivered through specially-designed workshops, which are delivered at the libraries. The libraries are outfitted with toys and inviting spaces for the families to play together. This grant allows the program to be installed in five branch libraries.
Expected Impact: This program provides high-quality parenting training to people who may otherwise be
unable to access such services at Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library and Stratford Branch Library. In addition, it also teaches participants how to access community services.
Alternative Options: The Library could not accept this grant, in which case these libraries will remain without
Family Place programs.
