Background and Discussion:
Curiosity Cruiser is a state-of-the-art mobile library that provides Harris County
children with access to books and exciting educational programs that integrate reading with science, math,
technology, writing and the arts. The Curiosity Cruisers are staffed by Harris County Public Library employees,while books, supplies, materials, technology and other mascot maintenance, and repair costs are paid for with grant funds from Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation.
Expected Impact:
The Curiosity Cruiser inspires Harris County children to develop a love of reading and gain
access to great books and opportunities - leading to lifelong learning and the ability to reach their fullest
potential in life.
Alternative Options:
We could refuse to accept the Grant funds, creating a need for continued funding from the Harris County General Fund.
