Background and Discussion:
Similar to the FY26 Budget Calendar, the F26 CIP Budget Calendar is a draft document OMB developed to assist departments and Commissioners Court Offices with planning for the upcoming fiscal year. Based on Commissioners Court feedback, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) can revise the FY26 CIP Budget Calendar and bring it back again for approval at a later date.

This feedback will be particularly valuable as OMB proposes a new, competitive CIP process and, per the strategic plan, seeks approval of the FY26 CIP. As in prior years, the CIP to be proposed by OMB does not include precinct-led and precinct-funded projects, like most road or park projects.

Expected Impact:
OMB believes that this early transmittal of the CIP Budget Calendar will help departments and Commissioners Court offices plan their schedules around budgetary events for the upcoming year.

Alternative Options:
Commissioners Court could decide to not provide feedback or not support a CIP calendar, but this would delay implementation of the CIP aspect of the strategic plan and could lead to operational difficulties, as staff would have less time to plan for activities in the calendar.
