Background and Discussion:
The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) has received grant funding for the SOAR Drug Court Program since 2019, on an annual basis. The grant funding pays for services that the participants receive while under specialty court supervision. This drug court is a registered specialty court in the State of Texas Specialty Court Registry (#179).

Expected Impact:
The participants of the SOAR Specialty Court can benefit from additional services such as therapeutic substance abuse treatment services, training for SOAR Court staff, GPS Monitoring for participants, requisite drug and alcohol testing and increased assessments to ensure placement in the program is appropriate based on needs of the participants, as a result of being a recipient of these grant funds.

Alternative Options:
If this grant were not awarded, program expenses and items requested in the budget for the SOAR Specialty Court Program would be paid out of the general fund budget.
