Background and Discussion:
Commissioners Court created the Harris County LGBTQIA+ Commission in June 2023 as an advisory board to the Court with a focus on recommendations to improve economic, social, health, and safety outcomes for LGBTQIA+ residents in Harris County. The nine Court-appointed commission members are tasked with selecting and recommending two additional commission members to positions 10 and 11.
Expected Impact:
Appointment to a vacant commission-recommended seat, Position 10, which will enable continuity of operations and leadership on the board. Because this vacancy occurred due to a board member's resignation, the appointed successor should serve out the remainder of the former member's unexpired term as prescribed by the commission's bylaws.
