Background and Discussion:
On October 8, 2024, Commissioners Court directed "the County Administrator to develop and return to the November 12, 2024, Commissioners Court meeting with:
1. A comprehensive plan for the creation of a Latino Equity Initiative, which includes:
o Specific goals and objectives aimed at addressing disparities for the Latino community in Harris County.
2. A detailed plan for a Latino Equity Summit, including:
o Identification of key stakeholders, including community leaders, public and private sector experts, and advocacy organizations.
o Guidelines for producing a post-summit report outlining recommendations and next steps for the Latino Equity Initiative.
3. A comprehensive plan for the creation of an equity initiative for all underserved and undervalued communities.
4. A detailed plan for an equity summit for all underserved and undervalued communities."
Expected Impact: Overtime, the Harris County Equity Initiatives will reduce economic, health, and social inequities experienced by Harris County's underserved and undervalued communities.
