Background and Discussion: The Veterans Mental Health Peer Support Services grant will be the second year VSD has been awarded the grant. The grant will serve veterans incarcerated or recently incarcerated in the Harris County Jail with the goal of preventing recidivism. The grant will create peer-based support with re-entry plans, treatment and housing options. This grant funds 3 new FTE's at 100%.

The expected impact is to see a reduction of repeat incarcerations in the veteran's population in Harris County.
