Request by the Constable of Precinct 6 for approval to reclassify six deputy positions from various Constable precincts to Detective along with pay who are assigned to the Harris County Violent Persons Task Force (VIPER).

Background and Discussion:
In May 2022, The Viper Task Force was developed by Commissioner A. Garcia as a Multi-Agency Warrant Task Force known as VIPER. Constable of Precinct 6 was assigned Co-Commander of the task force and one deputy from the following Constable precincts 1,2,3,5,6,8 agreed with the MOU to participate. Since then, the Harris County Sheriff Deputies (HCSD) and the Harris County Constable Deputies (HCCD) have been working as one unit focused exclusively on tracking down the most dangerous offenders. As of late August, all HCSD assigned to VIPER Task Force will have their deputy status reclassified to Detective, along with a pay increase/promotion. It's imperative that the HCCD assigned to the VIPER Task Force also receive the same reclassification to Detective, along with the pay increase/promotion as they are both doing the same equal work together.
