Background and Discussion:
The project is a 60" RCP Cast Iron Flap Gate with Headwall & Wingwalls in northeast Harris County. This construction project will remove the damaged 60" Tideflex Valve to P124-00-00 from the adjoining drainage area and replace it with a 60" Cast Iron Flap Gate. This replacement will be in compliance with a settlement to control the flow of offsite drainage to P124-00-00 during high flow events.

Expected Impact:
The existing 60" Tideflex Valve stopped sealing properly. This valve replacement project will remove the damaged flex valve and standardize the operation to a flap gate. The flap gate will be located back into the side berm of the channel to minimize obstruction to flow in P124-00-00 versus the current flex valve position in the center of the channel.

Alternative Options:
There are no viable alternatives to this item being requested. Not approving would allow the existing valve to deteriorate and discharge from P124-00-00 to the adjoining basin, P500-01-00 during peak flows...
