Background and Discussion: The National Medal for Museum and Library Service is the nation's highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities. The County Library has 27 branches and offers strong and distinctive programs for our service population of 2.5 million. The library invested heavily in connectivity during the pandemic by administering $30 million in Federal Communications Commission (FCC) funding and addressing basic skills to help patrons navigate the internet. The library worked with a wide array of partners to expand library card access and secure it as a form of verified photo identification, which as been a lifeline for our large migrant and immigrant communities. In conclusion, the County Library offers high-quality resources, engaging programming, and provides innovative approaches to public service, thus increasing the overall use of library spaces, services, and resources.
