Background and Discussion:
This change in contract is needed to complete the construction contract for this project. Lauder Stormwater
Detention Basin - Phase 2 includes excavating the southern compartment of a stormwater detention basin within the former Castlewood subdivision to reduce flooding along the P138-00-00 channel that drains to Greens Bayou. The purpose of this contract change is to add items and contract language required for Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) grant funding, as well payment for a contractor provided mussel survey.

Expected Impact:
This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.

Alignment with Goal(s):
_ Justice and Safety
_ Economic Opportunity
_ Housing
