Background and Discussion:
On June 6, 2023, the Harris County Commissioners Court approved the Interlocal Agreement between the Harris County Community Services Department (formerly CEDD) and the City of La Porte, Texas to provide local bus services for the City of La Porte. The local bus service is funded through Federal Transit Administration (FTA) 5307 Urban Formula Grants administered by the Community Services Department and local matching funds provided by the City of La Porte.

On July 9, 2024, the La Porte City Council approved the Interlocal agreement to continue bus service for another year through July 2025. The City of La Porte will provide $85,000 in local match funds for this service.

Expected Impact:
Fixed Route Bus Service in La Porte will provide more than 8,850 Unlinked passenger trips from August 2024 through July 2025.

Alternative Options:
Failure to approve this interlocal agreement will result in cancellation of Bus Service and deny transit dependent residents affordable public transportation.
