Background and Discussion:
Each year, the Harris County Housing and Community Development (HCD) receives a grant award from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) section 5307 and must provide local match.
HCD requests that Commissioner's Court approve a transfer of HCD's FY 2024 general funds in the amount of $350,000 to be used as local required match.
Required match is defined as the amount of funds the County is required by contract or applicable laws and regulations with the granting agencies to expend on a grant program. In order to account for these matching funds, grantee departments must transfer from its budget the estimated amount of match needs to FUND 2699 (Grant Match) as per County Auditor procedure G.7 Grant Accounting for Match.
Expected Impact:
Without the transfer, the department will not be able to incur costs associated with transit projects in alignment with Harris County goals.
