Background and Discussion:
Established in 2008, H-GAC's Livable Centers Program works with local communities to reimagine auto-focused infrastructure, policies, and programs to be more multi-modal friendly. Since the program's inception, H-GAC has completed 43 Livable Center studies.

Livable Centers are communities where people can live, work, and play with less dependence on cars. They promote a balanced mix of land uses that are walkable, connected, and accessible by various modes of transportation, including bus, bike, foot, and vehicle (multi-modal). Our application focuses on the Webster Livable Centers Study, which aims to create well-designed public spaces that address diverse community needs while ensuring safer travel to schools, workplaces, and economic hubs in Precinct 2.

The study will explore ways to improve connectivity to key destinations and develop equitable, resilient infrastructure for the community, strengthening the local transportation network with improved pedestrian pathways, dedicated bicycle lanes, and transit connections. Furthermore, it will align with broader goals of environmental sustainability, economic development, and increased safety.
