end
Background and Discussion:
Based on past discussions at Commissioners Court on 4/23/24 (Item 489) and 5/7/24 (Item 102), the Flood Control District has worked with the Office of Management and Budget to develop potential approaches to addressing deferred maintenance across Harris County. Discussion at the upcoming Commissioners Court meeting would focus on the potential approaches to creating a sustained source of revenue, supporting maintenance practices, associated timelines, and next steps for implementation.
Expected Impact:
Action taken could begin the process of exploring options and a financial path of funding deferred maintenance work. The allocation of any additional funding streams would support Flood Control District's ability to advance a higher level of maintenance on flood mitigation infrastructure assets across the county.
Alternative Options:
Alternative options are to continue working with the Office of Management and Budget to identify any additional approaches and alternatives, or to pause deferred maintenance discussions at this time.
