Request by the Commissioner of Precinct 4 for approval to submit an application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) for grant funds in the amount of $300,000, with a required match of $60,000, for the 2024 Livable Centers: Park Row Livable Centers Planning Study Program.
end
Background and Discussion:
HGAC opened a Livable Centers Cycle 7 Call for Study Sponsors during the fiscal years 2025-2028 on February 13, 2024. The application is to be submitted by the County to HGAC by July 8, 2024. Award notification is expected in early Fall 2024.
If the grant application is approved, the HGAC Livable Centers funds will be used for a Park Row Livable Centers Planning Study. The goal of the study will be to identify opportunities to promote walkable, mixed-use development along the Park Row corridor from Eldridge Road to Fry Road.
Office of the Commissioner, Precinct 4, requests approval for Harris County to apply for the grant for the Park Row Livable Centers Planning Study in the amount of $300,000 for the purpose of creating a vibrant connection between the Energy Corridor District and the rapidly growing Katy area.
Expected Impact:
The HGAC Livable Centers Study funds for the Park Row Livable Centers Planning Study will provide Harris County and Precinct 4 with a roadmap for transit-supportive improvements and redevelopment along Park Row to benefit the broader transit-dependent population in West Harris County.
Alternative Options:
Do not apply for the grant.
