Background and Discussion:
The East Harris County Activity Center (EHCAC) was originally built in 1992 and utilizes a chill water system that was installed at that time. Although the original chiller was replaced in 2017, the current air handlers are the original units, and they have exceeded their live span. This project was initiated to address poor efficiency, excess humidity, and heat buildup. The new proposed air handlers will address all these issues and reduce the electrical consumption.

Expected Impact:
The existing chiller and backup DX Compressor will remain. However, new HVAC system will replace all the indoor equipment located on the mechanical mezzanine. This new system will reduce operating cost and produce fresher and more comfortable air.

Alternative Options:
The only alternative would be to replace the entire system with a VRF system. We concluded that this would be cost prohibitive at this time.
