Background and Discussion:
This position is being requested due to an increase in the workload within our Finance Department. Due to the increase in court cases involving registry funds and the resulting increase in payouts, this position would focus on supporting the court departments and related work. Currently the Financial Services group is struggling to review, confirm, and disburse all payouts in a timely fashion. Additionally, the increase in eviction cases specifically have created not only more payouts, but has also drastically increased the amount of deposits that must be reviewed and confirmed. As a result, the Court Registry is currently over $60 million, with almost $8 million in outstanding checks.
Expected Impact:
This position would be housed in Fund 2211 and would have no impact on the general fund. Fund 2211 has enough funds to cover the new position.
Alternative Options:
The options include doing nothing and continuing as is in the Finance Department, or funding the new position in the general fund.
